Photography and scripture series

Role
Photography, curation, and scripture pairing, shot and assembled entirely solo. Every image was captured at the Buffalo Botanical Garden, then selected, grouped, and paired with text afterward.

The Concept
Created for my senior exhibition, where the direction was mine to choose. Rather than treat it as a technical exercise, I built it around a subject I'm genuinely passionate about, faith, using the exhibition as a chance to bring my own conviction into the work rather than working from an assigned theme. It started as an open shoot, a day spent photographing at the Buffalo Botanical Garden with no predetermined pairings in mind. The concept came together in the edit: noticing a color relationship across a handful of the images, grouping those into one cohesive set, then working through a list of scripture passages to find the five that would sequence together into a single arc on comfort and renewal.

Process
The final five weren't chosen first and shot to match, they were found afterward, color grouping first, then scripture sequencing on top of that. One pairing wasn't planned at all: the crown of thorns flower next to Psalm 34:18's line on the brokenhearted was a coincidence noticed only after both were already in the set, and it ended up being the strongest image of the five.
